U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin met with representatives from various bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, Chicago Bar Foundation, Illinois State Bar Association, and American Bar Association. The meeting focused on topics such as legal aid, judicial security, and judicial independence.

In a released statement, Durbin said, “I appreciated the chance to discuss legal aid, judicial security, and judicial independence with members of bar associations in Illinois and across the country today. Their work is crucial to our justice system, and I’ll keep pushing for bipartisan support to increase funding for legal aid organizations.”

Durbin also highlighted the ongoing challenges to judicial independence, particularly in light of what he described as "attacks" by the President. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to emphasize the importance of protecting the system of checks and balances.
