South Carolina last year recorded a homicide rate of 10.5 per 100,000 residents, compared to the U.S. rate of 6.5 per 100,000 and the state’s 5.7 rate a decade earlier, according to newly released FBI crime data.
The total amount of federal public education stimulus funds that South Carolina received from Congress during the COVID-19 pandemic is $3.27 billion, according to a tally from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).
