Senator Tim Scott, who represents South Carolina in the U.S. Senate, addressed several issues on his social media account in early October 2025. His posts included messages marking Yom Kippur, a statement regarding the ongoing government shutdown, and a response to an attack on a synagogue in Manchester.
On October 1, 2025, Senator Scott extended greetings for Yom Kippur: “Wishing a meaningful Yom Kippur to all who are observing. May this time bring hope, peace, and renewal.”
The following day, as the federal government experienced a partial shutdown affecting various services, Senator Scott assured constituents that his office remained operational: “While some federal services are suspended during the government shutdown, my office remains open and ready to serve South Carolinians. If you need help with a federal agency or have questions, my team is here to assist you.” During government shutdowns in the United States, non-essential federal operations are paused due to lapses in appropriations; however, congressional offices often continue constituent services.
Later on October 2, Senator Scott responded to news of violence targeting Jewish communities abroad: “Our hearts go out to the Jewish communities in Manchester following the horrific attack at a synagogue on Yom Kippur. We must remain relentless in combatting antisemitism wherever it appears. Praying for the victims, their families, and all those affected.” Attacks against religious groups have prompted increased calls from public officials for vigilance against hate crimes and support for affected communities.
Senator Tim Scott has previously spoken about religious tolerance and community safety as part of his legislative priorities.
