Senator Tim Scott, a Republican representing South Carolina, used his social media platform this week to address issues ranging from federal funding and local legislation to community leadership.

On March 11, Scott posted a message urging action on Department of Homeland Security funding: “Democrats must do their job: put Americans first and fund DHS.”

The following day, Scott highlighted the work of Anita Zucker, a business leader in South Carolina. On March 12 he wrote: “Anita Zucker, Chairperson and CEO of The InterTech Group, is a former teacher turned businesswoman, who has championed initiatives that strengthen education, support the Jewish community, and expand opportunity across the Lowcountry. Through her work in business, philanthropy,”

Later on March 12, Scott referenced local needs and legislative efforts in housing policy. He stated: “What works in Washington may not work in Greenwood, South Carolina. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act cuts red tape, increases housing supply, and lowers costs so more people can achieve their version of the American Dream.”

Scott offers constituent services such as assistance with federal agencies and resources for residents through his official Senate office (source). He has played a role in enacting Opportunity Zones legislation aimed at fostering investment in distressed communities (source). In addition to his legislative work on economic development and housing policy, Scott serves on several Senate committees including Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Finance; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship (source). His focus also includes workforce development and expanding economic opportunities for South Carolinians (source).
