U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina used his social media platform on February 17 and 18, 2026, to address a range of topics including civil rights leadership, the economic impact of South Carolina ports, and consumer financial policy.

On February 17, Scott posted about the legacy of Jesse Jackson, stating, “I don’t have to agree with someone politically to deeply respect the role Jesse Jackson, a South Carolina native, played in uplifting Black voices and inspiring young folks to believe their voices mattered. Those that empower people to stand taller always leave a lasting mark.”

Later that day, he highlighted his meeting with Micah Mallace regarding the state’s port operations: “Micah Mallace, the new President & CEO of @SCPorts, and I discussed a major economic driver for the Palmetto State, the Port of Charleston. SC ports power 1 in 9 South Carolina jobs and keeps our state thriving in global trade.”

On February 18, Scott commented on federal regulatory policy: “The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was created to protect consumers, not make their lives more expensive. A new report from @CEA47 shows how the past misguided policies of the CFPB raised borrowing costs and made it harder for families to access mortgages, auto”

Senator Scott represents South Carolina in the U.S. Senate and serves on several committees including Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Finance; Health; Education; Labor and Pensions; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship (official website).
