Pam Bondi, currently a registered lobbyist with Ballard Partners in Washington, D.C., is facing scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest as she seeks confirmation as Attorney General. During her presentation to the Committee, Bondi disclosed only two possible conflicts: her involvement with America First Policy Institute and her brother's legal practice.
Critics point out that Bondi did not disclose several significant conflicts related to her lobbying work. As a partner at Ballard Partners, she has represented more than 30 clients, including corporations like Amazon and Uber, private prison companies such as The GEO Group, and even foreign governments like Qatar.
Bondi's lobbying for The GEO Group has drawn criticism due to allegations against the company regarding safety violations and inadequate healthcare for incarcerated individuals. Furthermore, she earned $115,000 per month lobbying Congress on behalf of Qatar.
U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin expressed concern over Bondi's omissions. He stated: “I’m disappointed that Pam Bondi failed to list several clear conflicts of interest, which indicates she does not take these conflicts seriously. The American people deserve an Attorney General who avoids even the appearance of impropriety, and they deserve an Attorney General who will put them ahead of any wealthy special interest or foreign government.”
