Durbin questioned Bondi about her stance on political violence and the QAnon conspiracy movement.

Durbin emphasized that "violence is never acceptable when it comes to political expression." Bondi agreed with this sentiment, stating she abhors violence against both conservative Supreme Court justices and incidents like the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband.

The discussion also touched upon Kash Patel, President-elect Trump's nominee for FBI Director. Durbin referenced Patel's comments supporting aspects of the QAnon movement, which claims a secretive group is conspiring against Trump. Durbin questioned whether such beliefs are suitable for leading the FBI. Bondi noted she was unfamiliar with the specific definition of QAnon presented by Durbin and suggested questions be directed to Patel himself.

Durbin expressed skepticism about Patel's nomination without further clarification on his controversial views. He stated that Patel’s positions resembled those expected from oppressive regimes rather than American justice standards.

On another note, Durbin revisited issues related to January 6th, when individuals attacked the U.S. Capitol. He highlighted cases of bravery among Capitol police officers and criticized remarks made by Donald Trump regarding potential pardons for those involved in the insurrection.

Bondi reiterated her opposition to violence against law enforcement officers and acknowledged the severe impact of January 6th on several officers who either lost their lives or were injured.

Durbin urged Bondi to advocate for police officers if confirmed as Attorney General, stressing their role in ensuring safety.
