City of Columbia Announces Community Clean-Up Efforts in April

WHO: Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, City of Columbia Councilmembers, Richland County Councilmembers, Columbia International University, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, City of Columbia Police Department, Richland County Sherriff’s Department, Solid Waste staff, Code Enforcement staff, Community Development staff, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, Columbia Council of Neighborhoods, and representatives from local colleges/universities & community partners.

WHAT: The City of Columbia is hosting a kick-off press conference to announce several community clean-up efforts happening throughout the City during the month of April.

The month-long initiative is called “Columbia Clean-Up” and encourages neighborhoods and districts to help beautify their communities and protect our environment. Each week, the Solid Waste Division will be placing dumpsters along collection routes in a Council District, starting with District 1 on Friday, March 31st.

City of Columbia Code Enforcement staff will also announce a new pilot program that will help modernize the process of reviewing and communicating potential code enforcement violations with our citizens. In addition, Community partners will announce several other ways our citizens can get involved with cleaning up our community, including the RAMServe Clean-Up on April 5th spearheaded by Columbia International University and efforts currently underway with Keep the Midlands Beautiful.
