Mayor Issues Statement Regarding Active Shooter Threats Across South Carolina

The City of Columbia is aware of active shooter threats across the state. At this time, there are no active shooter calls/reports in the City of Columbia. The Columbia Police Department is in communication with local, state and federal law enforcement partners regarding these statewide hoax calls, specifically SLED and the FBI.

“I have been alerted that someone has called in active shooter threats across South Carolina this morning, including at Blythewood High School. It is believed these are part of a larger hoax. If confirmed, Columbia will support prosecuting this person to the fullest extent of the law.” Mayor Daniel Rickenmann said.

For any information, please call Richland County Sheriff’s Department for further details.
