Chamber Tubing Trip with Palmetto Outdoors

Join us for a fun, family friendly outing with the Greater CWC Chamber! Palmetto Outdoor is hosting the Chamber on Tuesday, August 16th for a tubing trip down the river. We will have two groups with shuttles running at 3:00 and 4:00 pm. This event will be complimentary for Chamber members, but space is limited.

This is a great reason to head out of the office early for a fun experience and networking opportunity.

Our Ambassador Committee will have some fun plans for the afternoon for those that do not wish to float, but still want to get outside with us.

Day of Information:

  • Please let us know which shuttle time you would prefer and plan to arrive 15-30 min ahead of your scheduled time.
  • This is a family friendly event, but children must be at least 10 years old to participate.
  • Be sure to bring sun protection and proper footwear.
  • If you'd like to bring a cooler, we'd recommend a soft pack cooler.
  • BYOB but please no styrofoam or glass are NOT permitted.
  • A waiver will be sent to registered guests to complete prior to the trip. You may return this waiver to the Chamber staff or bring it with you the day of.
  • The Chamber will provide refreshments and snacks for the trip, and we'll have an after-float hangout at the riverwalk until 7:00 pm.
  • Those of you that would prefer not to float down the river, but would like to join us, we'll have our Board Chair, Hayley Bowers, hosting a walk by the water.

If you choose to join us, all we ask is that you provide at least ONE photo or video from your experience!

We will share this via our social media as well as with Palmetto Outdoor to use for promotion.

Tips for the Tubing Trip:

Where to Go: Check in is at the Riverwalk Amphitheater 15-30 min before your shuttle time. You will need to complete a waiver before we leave. Palmetto Outdoor will shuttle us up to the Riverbanks Zoo for the start of the trip and we will end back at the Riverwalk.

What to Wear: We recommend wearing a bathing suit, shorts, t-shirt, etc. Whatever you feel comfortable in getting wet. Bring water shoes or sandals - the banks can be muddy. Palmetto Outdoor will provide life jackets.

What to Bring: Sun protection! Sunscreen or a hat is advised for the float. If you’d like to bring your phone on the trip, you can find waterproof phone holders just about anywhere. Feel free to bring a soft pack cooler with your adult beverages and snacks! Please be sure anything you bring on the river, you bring back off. Please don't leave any litter or trash on the water. Bring a change of clothes and a towel, but plan to keep that in your car. There are restrooms at the river walk where you can change if you'd like.

Info about the trip: There will be two small rapids - totally safe! Not like white water rafting lol it’s actually so much fun that if you want to ride the second rapid multiple times, you can. The trip is about 2.5 hours, but it feels much shorter than that.  We’ll float back to where we checked in, then it’s a short walk back up to the parking lot.

Afterwards: We'll have a small hangout at the Stone River pavilion afterwards until 7 pm - a few beers and snacks, tell us about your trip and share pictures :)

FYI: I (Christina) personally have never seen a snake or river animal on any of my trips lol but, if you get too close to the bank, you may have to sometimes hand paddle away from any hanging trees because of spiders. We will have experienced tubers on each shuttle trip, so if it's your first time - no worries!
