The City of Columbia has started accepting nominations for the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Keeper Scholarship Awards. | MLK Center
The City of Columbia has started accepting nominations for the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Keeper Scholarship Awards, according to a city press release.
The award recognizes children under 18 who show an "exemplary display of committed service to the tenets of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."
"The ideals of social responsibility, political empowerment, diversity, racial harmony, nonviolence and unselfish service must be demonstrated voluntarily by the nominee in support of his or her community and fellow citizens," the release said.
In order to be nominated applicants must be under 18, and enrolled in an elementary, middle or high school and possess a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Nomination applications can mailed to: City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department, Attn: Kevin Crawford II, 1111 Recreation Drive, Columbia, SC 29201, and must be postmarked by Dec. 3.
