Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center recently issued the following announcement.
Perry Compton opened his doors on November 1, 1977 at the corner of Platt Springs Road & Charleston Hwy in West Columbia. He was a pioneer in serving hot, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits, using only locally milled flour from Allen Brothers Milling Company in downtown Columbia. Perry moved the restaurant to Sunset Blvd and then in the mid-80’s to its current location on B Avenue in the Triangle City area of West Columbia.
Perry soon developed a reputation for serving delicious home cooking using only the freshest ingredients, with the main ingredient being the tender love & care put into every dish on the menu. Compton’s has continued building personal relationships with customers, serving hot home-style dishes at reasonable prices with the friendliest service in town.
Current owner Martha Cooke managed the restaurant for 13 years prior to taking over ownership in 2000. While carrying on Perry’s traditional menu, Martha has added many new items on the breakfast & lunch menus and with the help of a dedicated staff, has grown a very successful catering business.
