The only woman-owned cooperage in South Carolina is establishing operations in Bamberg County, creating 122 jobs.

South Carolina Oak to Barrel, LLC, located at 3914 Main Highway in Bamberg, manufactures “barrels for high-quality whiskey and wine industries,” to customer’s specifications, a press release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office said. The facility is scheduled to be in operation “by the fourth quarter of 2021.”

“We offer premium quality barrels that are built to our customers' individual specifications. We start with standing timber and follow the process through to delivery,” the company’s website said. "We care deeply about the entire process which starts with the white oak trees and ends with our hand crafted barrels.”

People interested in working at the company, which is investing over $6.8 million, should call 803-676-4240 or email info@southcarolinaoaktobarrel.com.

“South Carolina Oak to Barrel, LLC is honored to bring our operations to Bamberg,” CEO Dagney Johnson said in the governor's office release. “The market presence and, more importantly, the people of Bamberg and the state of South Carolina, were key factors in our decision. We look forward to building long-term relationships throughout the state and showing others the great opportunities to be had in South Carolina.”
