Juan Carlos Negret's league-leading 23rd homer in the seventh inning pulled the Columbia Fireflies - a Class-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals - within a run, but it was as close as they would get in a 6-5 loss to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Chicago White Sox) at Segra Park on Sept. 14.

"Both offenses started off in a hurry, but it was the Columbia offense  that stood in front 3-2 at the end of the first inning," according to a Fireflies release after the game.

Thanks to Bryan Ramos' second triple of the game, an Adam Hackenberg RBI hit, and an unearned run in the seventh, Cannon Ballers built a 6-3 lead.
