Greater Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center: How You Can Lend Your Voice to Make Lexington Stronger

D25633

Greater Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center recently issued the following announcement on September 15.

When we come together as a community to listen and learn from each other, we have the power to impact neighbors, communities and lives. That’s what Central Carolina Community Foundation’s (CCCF) On the Table initiative is all about.

On the Table is an opportunity to gather for meaningful conversations to build personal connections and inspire collaborative actions that make our community stronger. The idea is simple: small group conversations happen throughout the week of October 3 -9, 2021 around how we can strengthen our community. Residents from all walks of life, ages, and backgrounds are invited to participate in these conversations.

Tables can be hosted by anyone – including you! Individuals, neighborhoods, businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations and more all participate. Several local businesses have used On the Table as an employee engagement activity or a way to connect with their clients.

Hosts invite 4-10 guests, facilitate the conversation (toolkits and conversation guides are provided), and ask each guest to take a short survey. The conversation can be virtual or in-person following our safety guidelines.

If you do not want to host, you can share your voice through simply attending a conversation. Public conversations are listed at www.OnTheTableCola.org and are free to attend.

We know that big ideas can spring from small conversations and that people invest in what they help create. Central Carolina Community Foundation is committed to bringing people together to create a more generous, vibrant and engaged community. We strive to value all voices, build community and inspire action to move our community forward.

On the Table is not just about talking. We ask all participants to complete a survey after the conversations and report back to the community on the findings. We make sure this report is seen by community leaders so they can use it as they make important decisions about the future of our community. In addition, participants can apply for our “Beyond the Table” mini-grants to help make their ideas a reality. Since 2018, CCCF has awarded almost $60,000 to 32 projects inspired by the initiative.

We hope you will join us in October and share your voice to help Lexington become stronger. To register or learn more, visit www.OnTheTableCola.org.
