South Carolina’s women’s track and field team finished fifth at the 2026 SEC Indoor Championship, marking their best team placement since 2009. The meet was held at the R.A. ‘Murray’ Fasken Indoor Track & Field facility in College Station, Texas.

The Gamecock women accumulated 60 points, their highest total since scoring 78.5 in 2006. The men’s team placed 11th with 29 points.

Salma Elbadra won South Carolina’s only gold medal of the closing day by taking first place in the women’s mile with a time of 4:30.72, becoming the program’s first ever individual champion in that event at the SEC Indoor Championships.

JaMeesia Ford contributed significantly to the team’s score, earning a silver medal in the 200m with a time of 22.61—her third consecutive podium finish in this event. She also helped secure another silver as part of the women’s 4x400m relay team alongside Akala Garrett, Cynteria James, and Zaya Akins; they ran a time of 3:26.85, which is now the second fastest mark in school history.

Additional points came from Garrett and Joslyn Hamilton in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, Alexis Brown in the women’s 60m sprint, and Akins in the women’s 400m finals. Garrett broke her own school record for the second night running with an 8.04 finish for fourth place; Hamilton finished eighth with a time of 8.10. Brown became South Carolina’s first scorer in the women’s 60m since 2011 after placing sixth with a time of 7.21 seconds.

On the men’s side, Jaouad Khchina earned bronze in the mile (4:02.99), marking four podium finishes for South Carolina men’s milers over five years. Josiah Wrice (45.34) and Jasauna Dennis (45.63) both achieved personal bests to score points again this season by finishing fourth and sixth respectively in the men’s 400m; Wrice’s time ranks second all-time for South Carolina indoors while Dennis posted the program’s fourth-fastest mark.

Logan Montgomery scored eighth place on his debut at an indoor conference meet with a shot put throw of 18.48 meters (60-7.75). The men’s final points came from their fifth-place finish in the relay as Wrice, Dennis, Devan Crumpton, and Andrew Salvodon clocked a time of 3:05.05.

With these results concluded, South Carolina will prepare for participation at next month’s NCAA Indoor Championship scheduled for March 13–14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
