South Carolina swimmers advance during third day at SEC Championships

The South Carolina swimming and diving team wrapped up the third day of competition at the 2026 SEC Championships on Wednesday at the Allen Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Jordan Agliano achieved a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly, setting a personal best with a time of 1:53.80. Einar Agustsson also reached a new personal milestone, placing sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 51.69.

The day’s events began with preliminary heats for the 100 backstroke, 200 butterfly, and 100 breaststroke. Eleven athletes from South Carolina advanced to the finals session held in the evening. Among them were Agliano (200 butterfly) and Agustsson (100 breaststroke), both qualifying for their respective A-Finals.

Dylan Scholes will compete in the consolation final of the 100 backstroke. Amy Riordan, Merlin Ficher, and Ryan Hufford have moved on to swim in the bonus final for that event.

In other results, Breckin Gormley and Taylor Grimley advanced to the consolation final of the 200 butterfly while Tori Abruzzo and Gage Hulbert qualified for its bonus final. Harvey Freeman will represent South Carolina in the bonus final of the 100 breaststroke.

Charley Bayer placed twentieth in the 3-meter dive event with a score of 308.15.
