Select members of the South Carolina women’s swimming team participated in the Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend. Several athletes achieved personal and season best times during the event.
Katie Buehler recorded three personal bests: 23.60 seconds in the 50 freestyle, 53.55 seconds in the 100 backstroke, and 1:55.71 in the 200 backstroke. She also secured podium finishes in both backstroke events.
Meaghan Harnish finished on the podium for both of her events, placing third with a season-best time of 2:00.28 in the 200 individual medley (IM) and clocking 4:16.26 for third place in the 400 IM. Sofia Luper finished second ahead of Harnish in the 200 IM with a personal best time of 1:59.77.
Caroline Chasser set three personal bests at the meet, including fourth-place results in both the 200 IM (2:02.38) and 400 IM (4:19.12).
In addition, Alexis Dalton and Caroline Kudela placed second and third respectively with personal bests in the 100 breaststroke—Dalton at 1:01.23 and Kudela at 1:01.47—and both swimmers also posted new personal records in the 50 freestyle.
The remainder of South Carolina’s swimming team is scheduled to compete at the SEC Championships from February 16-21 at Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
