The South Carolina softball team will travel to face Missouri in a Southeastern Conference (SEC) series from April 17-19, with Saturday’s game set for national broadcast on the SEC Network.
This matchup is significant as both teams look to improve their standings within the conference. Missouri currently leads the all-time series against South Carolina, holding a 19-9 advantage. The last meeting between the two teams took place on May 5, 2025, when Missouri secured a 5-2 victory in extra innings.
Under head coach Ashley Woodard in her second season, South Carolina enters the series with a record of 24-20 overall and a conference mark of 3-12. The Gamecocks are ranked No. 25 in this week’s USA Softball/ESPN poll and are receiving votes from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association polls. They also rank No. 27 in RPI and have played more Top-25 RPI opponents than any other Division I program this season.
Missouri comes into the weekend at 23-22 overall and holds a conference record of 6-9 under head coach Larissa Anderson, now in her eighth season. The Tigers’ Abby Carr leads her team both in home runs (11) and runs batted in (39), while Cierra Harrison has notched nine wins as pitcher.
South Carolina features several standout players: Quincee Lilio leads with a .357 batting average; Karley Shelton and Tori Ensley each have driven in thirty-four runs; Ensley also tops home runs for the team with eight; Jori Heard boasts an earned run average of just 1.72 along with eighty-seven strikeouts; Emma Friedel leads with eight pitching wins.
As they enter their fifty-third season, South Carolina has played over two thousand seven hundred games since its inception and maintains an all-time winning percentage of .644. The program has achieved thirty or more victories ten times over the past twelve full seasons.
