South Carolina lost to No. 4 Alabama by a score of 1-0 on May 1 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, during the second game of their series.

The result highlights a strong pitching performance from Emma Friedel, who allowed only one run and struck out seven batters over a complete game for South Carolina. Despite her efforts and allowing just five hits, the Gamecocks were unable to score.

Tori Ensley extended her hitting streak to eight games with a single in the first inning. The Gamecocks managed base runners in five out of seven innings but could not capitalize on those opportunities. Their best chance came in the sixth inning when Quincee Lilio and Arianna Rodi drew walks.

Alabama scored its only run in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs after a single and double. Friedel stranded eight Crimson Tide runners throughout the game, including escaping a bases-loaded situation with a strikeout looking in the second inning.

The regular season finale between South Carolina and Alabama is scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
