South Carolina will continue its six-game homestand by hosting Queens University in a baseball game on Wednesday night, February 25. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be available for streaming on SEC Network Plus with commentary from Dave Weinstein and Grayson Greiner. Radio coverage will also be provided by the Gamecock Sports Network presented by Learfield, featuring Cade Crenshaw and Stuart Lake.
Parking for the event will follow established guidelines. All gameday lots are cashless, requiring payment via debit or credit card upon entry. On weekdays, business lots open at either 5 or 5:30 p.m., while Lot 1 and other designated lots open at 4:30 p.m.
The probable starting pitchers are Connor Chicoli for South Carolina, who holds a record of 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA over six innings pitched, and Adrian Quezada for Queens, who has one loss and a 10.80 ERA across five innings.
Queens University enters the matchup with a record of three wins and four losses this season. Bradley Brown leads the team offensively with a .381 batting average, four doubles, one home run, and six runs scored so far. Matthew Eagan has been effective on the mound for Queens with a win and a 3.60 ERA in two starts. Head coach Jake Hendrick is in his third year at Queens after previous coaching positions at Austin Peay and Northeastern State.
South Carolina holds an undefeated all-time series record against Queens at 3-0, including last year’s victory by a score of 7-2 on February 19.
Freshman infielder Will Craddock was recognized as SEC Co-Freshman of the Week after his debut week with South Carolina. “Craddock went 8-for-15 with nine runs scored, two doubles, a triple, two home runs, two walks and six RBI to help lead the Gamecocks to four wins last week,” according to the announcement. He had standout performances throughout last week’s games against Gardner-Webb, Navy, and Air Force.
Catcher Talmadge LeCroy returns for his fifth season following an injury that sidelined him during part of last year. LeCroy has appeared in more than 180 games during his career at South Carolina; if he plays in another 24 games this season he will join an exclusive group of players who have played in over 200 games for the program.
Sophomore KJ Scobey moves from third base to shortstop this season after spending time playing that position during Team USA training camp over the summer.
Pitcher Amp Phillips recorded his first win since transferring from USC Upstate when he started South Carolina’s first shutout of the year against Navy by allowing only one hit through six innings.
Junior Patrick Evans contributed five doubles across four games last week while Alex Valentin picked up two saves early this season as relief pitcher.
Looking ahead, South Carolina will play Clemson in a three-game series beginning Friday night (February 27). The opener takes place at Founders Park followed by Saturday’s game at Segra Park—home field of the Columbia Fireflies—and concluding Sunday afternoon at Clemson’s home stadium.
