South Carolina Track & Field is set to compete in the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas, beginning March 12 at the Tyson Indoor Track Center. The two-day event will feature preliminary rounds on Friday and finals on Saturday, with live results available online and coverage on ESPN+.
The championship marks the culmination of the indoor season for South Carolina athletes, who will be vying for team points and All-American honors. First Team All-American status is awarded to finishers placing first through eighth, while Second Team honors go to those finishing ninth through sixteenth. Athletes must have a valid mark to earn these distinctions.
On Friday, South Carolina will participate in eight events, starting with Jaouad Khchina in the men’s mile preliminary round. Other competitors include Alexis Brown in the women’s 60 meters, Zaya Akins in the women’s 400 meters, Andrew Salvodon and Josiah Wrice in the men’s 400 meters, Joslyn Hamilton and Akala Garrett in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, JaMeesia Ford in the women’s 200 meters, Tyson Williams in the men’s 200 meters, and a women’s distance medley relay team featuring Eline Mast, Akala Garrett, Sylvia Chelangat, and Salma Elbadra.
Saturday’s schedule includes five guaranteed finals for South Carolina athletes: Logan Montgomery competes in men’s shot put; Jathiyah Muhammad participates in women’s pole vault; Elbadra runs individually in the women’s 3K final; and both men’s and women’s teams race in their respective 4×400 meter relays.
The Southeastern Conference recently named Alexis Brown as SEC Women’s Co-Newcomer Runner of the Year after her sixth-place finish at the SEC Indoor Championship. Brown has achieved notable times this season—second all-time for South Carolina in the indoor 60 meters (7.18 seconds) and seventh all-time for indoor 200 meters (23.09 seconds). Jathiyah Muhammad was also recognized as Newcomer Athlete of the Year after winning an SEC title with a pole vault clearance of 4.40 meters and setting a new program record at 4.50 meters during her first season with South Carolina.
This year, South Carolina has sent its fifth highest number of female entries to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The team brings significant experience into competition weekend with a combined total of twelve NCAA Indoor All-American honors and eight NCAA titles across Division I and II levels.
