South Carolina will play its first two midweek baseball games of the 2026 season, traveling to Spartanburg to face Wofford on Tuesday and then hosting Gardner-Webb on Wednesday. The matchup against Wofford will take place at Fifth Third Park, home of the Hub City Spartanburgers, with a scheduled start time of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday’s game against Gardner-Webb is set for 4 p.m. at Founders Park.
Both games will be available via streaming services—Tuesday’s contest on ESPN+ and Wednesday’s on SEC Network Plus. Radio coverage will be provided by the Gamecock Sports Network presented by Learfield, with Brad Muller calling Tuesday’s game and Cade Crenshaw handling Wednesday’s broadcast alongside Stuart Lake.
For fans attending afternoon games, business lot parking passes are valid in Lot 1 only for specific dates based on availability. Certain lots near Huger Street open later in the day, while other public gameday lots require cashless payment methods such as debit or credit cards upon entry.
On Tuesday, South Carolina is expected to start sophomore right-hander Connor Chicoli, who has pitched one inning this season without allowing a run. Wofford plans to start senior right-hander Champ Davis. For Wednesday’s game against Gardner-Webb, South Carolina’s starting pitcher has not been announced; Gardner-Webb is set to start junior Parker Dixon.
Wofford enters the week after sweeping Mercyhurst in three games, outscoring them 35-3. Harrison Campi led offensively with seven runs batted in and hit the team’s only home run during that series. Keeton Burroughs contributed four hits and two RBI over the weekend. Pitcher Alec Bouchard struck out eight batters across five innings for a win. Last season, Wofford finished with a record of 33-27 and was led by James Leyman’s .369 batting average.
The Gamecocks have a historical advantage over Wofford with a 77-25-1 all-time record but have not played them since May 2017 when they won 9-5.
Gardner-Webb comes into Wednesday’s matchup after winning three out of four games against Valparaiso last weekend and scoring a total of 36 runs in those contests. Zach Thompson started strong this season with ten hits in fourteen at-bats along with eight runs scored and five RBI. Former Gamecock Thad Ector is batting .429 so far this year for Gardner-Webb.
Carolina leads the all-time series against Gardner-Webb six games to two, including victories each of the past two seasons.
This week marks one of several occasions when South Carolina will play at minor league stadiums during the season; upcoming neutral-site matchups include Clemson at Segra Park (home of the Columbia Fireflies), The Citadel at Riley Park (Charleston Riverdogs), and North Carolina at Truist Field (Charlotte Knights).
Junior outfielder Tyler Bak made key contributions in last week’s win over Northern Kentucky by driving in four runs across multiple late-inning situations before KJ Scobey delivered a walk-off home run. Bak returns this week to face his former team Wofford.
Pitcher Josh Gunther earned recognition for his Opening Day performance where he pitched nearly five innings in relief and struck out seven batters—a career high—and was named to NCBWA’s Stopper of the Year Watch List earlier this month.
Sophomore KJ Scobey transitions from third base to shortstop this year after spending time at Team USA training camp last summer. He has already recorded walk-off hits twice since April last year—including a solo home run that secured victory over Northern Kentucky earlier this month.
Looking ahead, South Carolina will host Army, Navy, and Air Force as part of its Salute the Troops Tournament from February 20 through February 22 at Founders Park—all matches streamed live on SEC Network Plus.
