The South Carolina men’s tennis team defeated Michigan State 4-1 on May 2 to secure a spot in the Super Regionals at the Carolina Outdoor Tennis Center. The Gamecocks, ranked No. 13, improved their record to 18-8 and will move forward in postseason play.

This victory is significant as it marks the sixth consecutive year that South Carolina has advanced to the super regional stage. The win highlights the team’s consistent performance and ability to compete at a high level in national tournaments.

In doubles action, Sean Daryabeigi and Max Stenzer started strong with a 6-4 win from the second position. Lucas da Silva and Paul Barbier Gazeu clinched the doubles point for South Carolina with a late surge for a 7-5 victory at the top of the lineup. In singles play, Stenzer quickly secured another point by winning his match in straight sets, followed by Gazeu’s win over No. 15 Matthew Forbes—his highest-ranked collegiate victory so far. Michigan State managed one singles win before Gabe Avram closed out the match for South Carolina by taking his tiebreaker.

The Gamecocks will face Virginia next week on May 8 or 9 as they continue their postseason run. The team encourages fans to follow updates through GamecocksOnline.com or via social media (@GamecockMTennis).
