The South Carolina men’s tennis team advanced to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) quarterfinals after defeating Ole Miss 4-1 at the Mitchell Tennis Center on April 16. The Gamecocks, ranked No. 13, secured the win over No. 25 Ole Miss and will face Mississippi State in their next match.

This victory marks the sixth consecutive season that South Carolina has reached the SEC quarterfinals. The achievement demonstrates consistent performance by the team as they continue their postseason run.

In doubles play, Lucas da Silva and Paul Barbier Gazeu won on court one against Isac Stromberg and Kai Milburn with a score of 6-3, earning their seventh ranked win this season. Although Ole Miss claimed a win on court three, Max Stenzer and Sean Daryabeigi helped South Carolina clinch the doubles point with a close victory on court two.

During singles matches, Gabe Avram delivered a quick win for South Carolina after Ole Miss briefly tied the overall score. Da Silva followed by defeating Stefano D’Agostino in straight sets, avenging an earlier loss from regular season play. Barbier Gazeu then secured the final point for South Carolina with another straight-set victory over Matthieu Chambonniere.

The Gamecocks are set to play No. 6 Mississippi State in Friday’s quarterfinal matchup at 3:00 p.m., continuing their campaign in pursuit of an SEC title.
