The South Carolina men’s tennis team has again secured both weekly awards from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), marking the second time this season it has achieved this distinction. Senior Lucas da Silva was named SEC Player of the Week, while Charlie Swaine received recognition as Co-Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement by the league on Wednesday.

This is da Silva’s second Player of the Week honor for the current season. The Gamecocks have now collected three Freshman of the Week awards in total, with Paul Barbier Gazeu having earned two previous honors.

Da Silva contributed a 3-0 record over singles and doubles during South Carolina’s opening weekend in SEC play. His singles win streak extended to five matches following victories against ranked opponents. In doubles competition versus then-No. 18 Oklahoma, he partnered with Barbier Gazeu for a 6-4 win at the top spot, making it seven straight doubles wins for the pair. Da Silva also secured a three-set singles victory over No. 79 Oscar Lacides and later clinched South Carolina’s 4-3 team win against then-No. 29 Arkansas by defeating No. 18 Jakub Vrba—his second-highest ranked singles triumph this year.

Swaine went undefeated in singles at the No. 6 position during SEC play, finishing with a 2-0 record over the weekend. He came back from a first-set deficit to help secure South Carolina’s upset victory over Oklahoma and claimed his team’s first singles point against Arkansas with a straight-set win—the only such result by a Gamecock in that match. Following these performances, Swaine holds a season record of 5-1 when playing at No. 6 singles.

South Carolina will next face No. 4 Texas in its SEC home opener on Friday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m.
