South Carolina will participate in the Southern Highlands Collegiate golf tournament beginning Sunday, March 1, in Las Vegas. The three-day event is hosted by UNLV at the Southern Highlands Golf Club, a par-72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones. This venue previously hosted the PGA TOUR’s Shriners Children’s Open from 2000 to 2004.

The field consists of 15 teams, all ranked within the top 50 according to the latest Clippd Team Poll. Among these are top-ranked Virginia, Auburn, Florida, and Texas, with nine teams in total holding spots in the top 25.

The Gamecocks will use the same five-man lineup as they did at their recent appearance in the Puerto Rico Classic. Leading the team is All-American Frankie Harris. Harris recently achieved his fifth career win at that event by shooting a personal best score of 200 (-16), finishing one shot ahead of Virginia’s Ben James and Josh Duangmanee. At that time, James was rated as the number one player nationally by Clippd.

Joining Harris are senior Zach Adams, sophomore Marek Fleming, freshman Talan Harrison, and junior Brock Blais. Harrison finished tied for 14th in Puerto Rico with a score of 207 (-9), marking his second top-20 finish this season.

The complete list of participating teams includes: Virginia (No. 1), Auburn (No. 2), Florida (No. 3), Texas (No. 4), Pepperdine (No. 8), Illinois (No. 12), Oklahoma (No. 14), New Mexico (No. 19), San Diego State (No. 25), Texas A&M, UCLA, Georgia, UNLV, Washington, and South Carolina.
