No. 3 ranked South Carolina will play its last regular-season home game against Missouri on Thursday, February 26, at Colonial Life Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and a Senior Night ceremony set for approximately 7:30 p.m.
The event will also feature community initiatives, including canned food collection for the USC CommUnity Shop and a halftime Teddy Bear Toss, where attendees can donate stuffed animals to local charities.
South Carolina’s women’s basketball team is led by head coach Dawn Staley. The Gamecocks’ top scorer is Joyce Edwards, averaging 20.1 points per game, while Madina Okot leads in rebounds with an average of 10.6 per game. Missouri’s head coach is Kellie Harper, with Grace Slaughter as both the top scorer (18.9) and rebounder (6.7).
South Carolina has demonstrated strong offensive and defensive performances this season. The team ranks second in the SEC for scoring with an average of 83.7 points per game and leads the league in field goal percentage both overall (.512) and during conference play (.479). Nationally, they are fourth in blocks per game (6.3), lead in field goal percentage defense (.335), and are fourth in scoring defense (56 points allowed per game). Point guard Raven Johnson plays a key role defensively; when she is on the court, opponents’ shooting percentages drop notably.
After struggling with free throws at Alabama, South Carolina rebounded by making all their attempts against Ole Miss (13-for-13). At home, the Gamecocks allow nearly ten fewer points per game to SEC opponents compared to road games.
Senior center Madina Okot is among national leaders in several categories, including double-doubles (third nationally), rebounds per game (14th), field goal percentage (17th), and offensive rebounds per game (23rd). She recently helped secure the SEC regular-season title for South Carolina.
Joyce Edwards is considered a candidate for national player of the year honors and ranks 18th nationally in scoring. She has recorded at least 20 points in 17 games this season—eight times against SEC teams and four times versus ranked opponents.
Senior Ta’Niya Latson appears among the SEC’s top players across five statistical categories: steals per game (11th), points per game (16th), field goal percentage (seventh), free throw percentage (ninth), and assist-to-turnover ratio (seventh).
Sophomore point guard Maddy McDaniel leads the nation with a 5.4 assist-to-turnover ratio this season.
Freshman Alicia Tournebize has increased her contributions over recent games, averaging six points on nearly 62 percent shooting over her last five appearances.
South Carolina has won ten SEC regular-season championships in thirteen seasons and holds a +28-point margin over top-25 opponents from last week’s games. Madina Okot currently shoots over 53 percent from three-point range.
In previous matchups against Missouri, South Carolina leads the series 12-4 overall and remains undefeated at home against them (7-0). Their most recent meeting was on January 2, 2025, when South Carolina secured an 83-52 win.
Head coach Dawn Staley now trails only Pat Summitt for most SEC regular-season championships and Coach of the Year awards in league history. Staley holds seven Coach of the Year honors—one behind Summitt—and her .799 winning percentage ranks second among coaches with more than five seasons in the conference.
Efficiency remains a focus for South Carolina; they rank third nationally in field goal percentage (.512) while leading all teams in field goal percentage defense (.335). From beyond the arc, South Carolina boasts one of college basketball’s best three-point percentages (.379) led by Tessa Johnson who ranks eighth nationally with her accuracy rate.
On rebounding, South Carolina stands tenth nationally in margin (+10) and eleventh overall for total rebounds per game (42.7). They collect forty percent of their own missed shots—ranking sixteenth nationally—and have two players ranked high individually: Madina Okot averages over ten boards each contest while Joyce Edwards adds more than six herself.
