Texas A&M defeated South Carolina 92-69 in a men’s basketball game held Saturday in College Station, Texas. Zach Clemence led the Aggies with 21 points, hitting seven three-pointers. Rylan Griffen contributed 16 points for Texas A&M, which improved its record to 16-4 overall and 6-1 in the Southeastern Conference. The team has now won nine of its last ten games.

Pop Isaacs and Rashaun Agee each added 11 points for Texas A&M. The Aggies closed the first half on a strong note, going on a 19-4 run to secure a 46-25 lead at halftime. Clemence scored 12 of his points in the first half, while Ruben Dominguez made all nine of his first-half points from beyond the arc. Meechie Johnson led South Carolina’s effort with 13 first-half points.

Ali Dibba’s jumper with just over twelve minutes left in the second half extended Texas A&M’s lead to its largest margin at 70-38.

Meechie Johnson finished as South Carolina’s top scorer with 26 points on seven-of-twelve shooting and converted all ten of his free throws. “Johnson was 7-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. He’s made 19-straight free throws dating back to the 2:05 mark of the second half in the team’s win over Oklahoma on Tuesday.” Johnson also recorded five assists, marking his tenth game this season with five or more assists.

Kobe Knox matched his season-high by scoring eighteen points for South Carolina for a second consecutive game, reaching double figures in four of his last five league appearances. Myles Stute added eleven points for South Carolina (11-9, 2-5 SEC), which has now lost four out of its last five games.

Key statistics from the contest include Texas A&M building a significant halftime advantage through an effective perimeter attack—twelve of their fifteen field goals in the opening half were three-pointers, resulting in a fifty-four percent shooting rate from behind the arc during that period. The Aggies also outrebounded South Carolina by thirteen and had an eighteen-point edge in fastbreak scoring.

South Carolina will next play at home against Florida on Wednesday night at Colonial Life Arena.
