The South Carolina Gamecocks equestrian team, ranked sixth nationally, will host top-ranked Auburn University on Saturday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. The meet marks the team’s return to Columbia after three consecutive competitions in Texas.

During their recent road trip, South Carolina began the spring portion of its season with a victory over Baylor, winning 10-7. Amira Kettaneh was named Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) for her score of 88 in Fences. The Gamecocks also secured wins in Fences and Horsemanship events.

The team then faced Texas A&M in College Station and lost 13-6. Despite the defeat, South Carolina athletes earned three MOP honors: Grace Rabb for Fences with a score of 87.5, Sarah Rabb for Flat with an identical score, and Alexis Potts for Horsemanship with a score of 76.75. Potts maintained her undefeated record this season.

In their final Texas meet against SMU, the Gamecocks fell 12-7 but outperformed their opponents in Reining and collected two more MOP awards. The Rabb twins swept Jumping Seat honors; Sarah won Flat with a score of 83 while Grace scored an 85 in Fences.

Both Grace and Sarah Rabb made program history by earning NCEA and SEC honors as siblings within the same month.

Auburn leads the all-time series between the teams with a record of 40-21 over South Carolina. In their last meeting during the fall season, Auburn defeated South Carolina 13-6. Natalie Jayne achieved her school-record fourteenth career MOP honor for Flat during that competition.

Auburn enters Saturday’s event with a season record of six wins and one loss after defeating UT Martin on the road to open its spring schedule.

Fans attending Saturday’s meet at One Wood Farm should be aware that parking is limited due to weather conditions. Shuttle service will be available from Sandy Level Baptist Church at 408 Blythewood Rd to the venue. Concessions will feature homemade barbecue options.
