The South Carolina Equestrian team, currently ranked No. 5, is set to face No. 1 Georgia on Saturday, February 14 at 11 a.m. The Gamecocks hold a record of 7-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while Georgia enters the meet with a 7-2 overall record and is 3-1 in conference competition.

In their most recent outing, South Carolina defeated then-No. 1 Auburn at home by a narrow margin of 10-9. Auburn initially led after the Fences event but South Carolina responded by sweeping Horsemanship for the first time against Auburn in program history. Alexis Potts was recognized for her performance, receiving her third Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) award of the season.

The Gamecocks held a seven-to-three lead at halftime and increased their advantage during the Flat event. Amira Kettaneh scored a point with a ride of 91.5 and earned her fourth MOP honor this season. The match concluded with Emily Patton tying Auburn’s Michelle Fumagalli to secure the victory for South Carolina.

Saturday’s matchup will mark the 62nd meeting between South Carolina and Georgia, with Georgia leading the all-time series at 43 wins to South Carolina’s 18. Their last encounter took place earlier this season in Athens where Georgia won 13-6; Kettaneh received MOP honors for both Fences and Flat events while Potts was named MOP for Horsemanship.

Georgia recently secured a win over then-No. 3 Texas A&M with a score of 12-7 at home and has recorded three wins on the road out of five attempts this season. Meanwhile, South Carolina aims to maintain its undefeated home record.

Fans attending Saturday’s meet are advised that parking at One Wood Farm will be limited; however, shuttle service from Sandy Level Baptist Church will be available. In addition to the competition, Equifest will begin at noon featuring activities such as roping stations, brushing stations, giveaways, and other attractions for attendees.
