The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s equestrian team achieved a notable win over top-ranked Georgia, securing a 16-3 victory at home in Blythewood. The result marks the first time in program history that South Carolina has defeated No. 1-ranked teams in consecutive competitions and ends a seven-meet losing streak against Georgia. The 16 points scored are the most ever by the Gamecocks against the Bulldogs.

“This was a huge victory for this team,” said head coach Carol Gwin. “They’ve been working very hard this year and I think the results showed today. A huge shoutout to our consistent performers, but also to some new faces in the lineup who are starting to produce points as well!”

The competition began with Horsemanship, where South Carolina won 4-1. Alyssa Jipping scored 75.25 on Ziggy, narrowly surpassing Ava Hathaway’s score for Georgia. Carly Jenkins added another point with a 76.5 on Winston, while Lillian Laney and Alexis Potts contributed additional wins. Potts earned her fourth Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) honor of the season.

In Fences, the Gamecocks repeated their success with another 4-1 win. Alyssa Bauer started strong with a score of 75 on Tito. Grace Rabb, Bella Primavera, and Natalie Jayne also secured points, with Jayne earning her third MOP recognition of the season.

South Carolina then swept all four points in Reining for the first time since 2022 against Georgia. The event included a tie between Potts and Kennedy Buchanan at 70 on Chexie, followed by victories from Emily Patton, Olivia Cardi, Gracie Mae Stingle—who earned her first career MOP—and Opal Fomish.

The meet concluded with Flat, where South Carolina again posted a 4-1 win. Jayne defeated Parker Cliff with an 83 on Fenway; Sarah Rabb and Vanessa McCaughley also won their matchups; Kettaneh capped off the day with an 84.5 on Schnitzel and received her fifth MOP award of the season.

South Carolina is scheduled to host Delaware State on March 6 and North Dakota State University on March 7. Updates will be available during meets through social media platforms X and Instagram under @GamecockEQ.
