South Carolina equestrian completes regular season undefeated after shutout win over Delaware State

The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s equestrian team closed their regular season with a 20-0 victory over Delaware State on Saturday in Blythewood, South Carolina. This win marks the team’s tenth of the season, their highest total since the 2014-15 campaign when they finished with 12 wins and secured their third NCEA Championship.

South Carolina began strongly in Fences, sweeping all five points. Amira Kettaneh scored an 87 on Marty, Alyssa Bauer followed with an 86-66 win on Schnitzel, Bella Primavera defeated Elizabeth Hopkins 75-60 on Nino, Natalie Jayne posted an 82 on Q to beat Melisa Acker’s 73, and Grace Rabb completed the sweep with an 85 on Dobby.

The Gamecocks continued their momentum in Horsemanship. Alexis Potts outscored Hallie Prater 77-71 on Winston. Alyssa Jipping won her matchup against Madison Wojeck by a score of 75.5-74 riding Brad. Lillian Laney (73.5) earned her point on Stanley, Ruby Voortmeyer (73) won hers on Sparky, and Carly Jenkins added another point with a score of 74 for her ride on Ziggy.

In Flat competition during the second half, South Carolina again swept all five points. Kettaneh recorded an 85-64 win on Major; Jayne took her point with an 84 riding Schnitzel; Mary Hunter Millet won her round with an 83-56 result aboard Fenway; Sarah Rabb edged Lily Kosal by one point (71-70) riding Dento; and Kenley Koch rounded out the event with a victory over Goose at 72-52.

Delaware State managed to take three points in Reining, but South Carolina picked up two more wins in that discipline. Freshman Emily Patton scored a point for the Gamecocks after defeating her opponent by three points (69-66) while riding Nike. Olivia Cardi concluded the day for South Carolina by beating Bailey Henderson (72-62.5) aboard Giallo and earning Most Outstanding Performer honors.

The Gamecocks will next compete at Auburn University during the SEC Championship from March 27 to March 28. Fans can follow updates through X and Instagram accounts @GamecockEQ.
