The University of South Carolina baseball team defeated Navy 8-0 on Saturday during the Salute the Troops Tournament at Founders Park in Columbia. The game featured a strong pitching performance from Amp Phillips, who gave up only one hit over six innings and struck out three batters. Phillips also walked two and secured his first win as a Gamecock.

Relief pitchers Cooper Parks and Hudson Lee finished the game, with Lee striking out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Freshman Will Craddock contributed significantly on offense. He started the first inning with a solo home run to left field and later hit a double in the third that drove in two runs. In total, Craddock went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in and scored twice.

Talmadge LeCroy added to South Carolina’s lead with two doubles, bringing in runs in both the third and fifth innings. KJ Scobey also doubled to left, increasing the margin to 6-0. The Gamecocks scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings on a sacrifice fly by Craddock and a double by Dawson Harman.

Logan Sutter led South Carolina at the plate, finishing 3-for-3. LeCroy, Harman, and Scobey each recorded two hits.

After this game, Craddock is hitting .545 for the season with five RBIs, including a double, triple, and home run. This shutout marked South Carolina’s first of the season. Both LeCroy and Scobey now have seven RBIs each this year.

The start of Saturday’s game was delayed for more than two hours due to rain.

South Carolina will conclude its participation in the Salute the Troops Tournament on Sunday against Air Force. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m., with streaming available via SEC Network Plus.
