The University of South Carolina baseball team went 2-2 during the week, with victories against Wofford and No. 2 Texas, according to an April 5 update from the team.
The Gamecocks’ performance this week brings their overall record to 15-18 and their Southeastern Conference (SEC) record to 2-10. The team won at home against Wofford in a seven-inning game and secured a win on Thursday against Texas before dropping the next two games of the series.
Will Craddock was a standout for South Carolina, recording three multi-hit games over the week. He hit two home runs and drove in seven runs, including a three-run homer and an RBI single that ended the game versus Wofford. Craddock leads the team with a .308 batting average, seven home runs, and twenty-two runs batted in this season.
Talmadge LeCroy made progress on his career walks total by drawing four walks during the Texas series. His total now stands at 125 career walks as a Gamecock, tying him for seventh all-time in program history alongside Mac White. Justin Smoak holds South Carolina’s all-time mark with 151 walks.
KJ Scobey contributed two doubles in Thursday’s win over Texas, bringing his season total to fifteen—currently leading all SEC players. Scobey has also scored seventeen runs and tallied four home runs along with twenty RBIs so far this year.
Brandon Stone pitched seven innings of relief on Friday against Texas, striking out six batters while allowing just two earned runs without factoring into the decision. Stone is now 3-1 on the year with a 3.11 earned run average and thirty-six strikeouts.
Looking ahead, South Carolina will finish its homestand by hosting College of Charleston on Tuesday night before traveling to Missouri for a three-game SEC series starting Thursday.
