The Citadel took an early lead with two runs in the third inning following a single by Christian Stratis. They added one run each in the seventh and ninth innings. South Carolina pitcher Josh Gunther started the game and was charged with the loss after allowing one run without giving up a hit over two-plus innings while striking out two batters. Connor Chicoli pitched 4.2 innings, striking out four and allowing six hits along with one run and a walk. Josh Gregoire contributed two strikeouts over 1.2 innings of work, while Elijah Foster struck out one batter in two-thirds of an inning.

Looking ahead, South Carolina will travel to Baton Rouge for a three-game Southeastern Conference series against LSU starting Friday night, May 1. The first game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time (6:30 p.m. Central) and will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
