The University of South Carolina baseball team lost to No. 2 Texas by a score of 4-1 on April 4 at Founders Park.

Texas scored two runs in the first inning with a double from Anthony Pack Jr., bringing home Carson Tinney and Aiden Robbins. Pack recorded three of the Longhorns’ six hits during the game. The Longhorns added an unearned run in the fifth inning and a solo home run by Tinney in the ninth, resulting in their four runs for the day.

Talmadge LeCroy hit his seventh home run of the season for South Carolina in the bottom of the fifth inning, accounting for one of only two hits by his team—the other was a single from Luke Yuhasz. Despite limited offense, South Carolina’s pitching staff struck out 15 Texas batters. Amp Phillips took the loss after allowing one earned run over four and two-thirds innings, surrendering two hits while walking four and striking out eight. Logan Prisco contributed two strikeouts in one inning pitched, and Cooper Parks struck out five over two and two-thirds innings.

Postgame notes highlighted that Will Craddock reached base six times with a pair of extra-base hits during the series against Texas. LeCroy extended his streak of reaching base to nine consecutive games, while Gamecocks pitchers totaled 33 strikeouts across 27 innings throughout the weekend series.

Looking ahead, South Carolina will finish its homestand on Tuesday night against College of Charleston at Founders Park with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The game will be available via streaming on SEC Network Plus.
