South Carolina head baseball coach Monte Lee announced on March 23 several changes to the Gamecock baseball staff, with new appointments taking effect immediately.

The announcement matters as it brings experienced coaches into key positions and reorganizes the team’s support structure ahead of upcoming games. The adjustments are expected to impact both player development and game preparation.

Chris Gordon will move from his previous role as Director of Operations and Player Development to become an on-field assistant coach. Stuart Lake, who has a history with the program as an assistant coach during two separate stints, will now serve as Director of Program Development. Lake’s background includes coaching at College of Charleston, Ole Miss, and The Citadel, along with eight seasons as head coach at Charleston Southern. He was named Big South Coach of the Year in 2014.

Lake will continue working as Director of Development for the Gamecock Club but will leave his position as color analyst for Gamecock baseball broadcasts on the Gamecock Sports Radio Network. Other staff changes include Noah Wise being appointed Director of Operations and Equipment Management, William Mann taking over as Director of Hitting Analytics, and Owen Moline-Freeman becoming Director of Pitching Analytics.

The team is set to play against No. 13 North Carolina at Charlotte’s Truist Park on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., marking one of their first games following these staffing updates.
