South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer will represent the Gamecocks at the 19th annual Southern Company Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament, which takes place April 26–28 at Reynolds Lake Oconee outside Atlanta.
The event is significant as it brings together top college football coaches for a charitable cause, raising funds for foundations and scholarships. Coach Beamer has previously won $80,000 for charity through his participation in this tournament.
This year marks Beamer’s sixth appearance in the event. The tournament features a Two Man Scramble format with Stableford scoring over an 18-hole round. Teams are composed of an active coach paired with a former coach or “Legend,” except for one pairing that includes two active head coaches—Rhett Lashlee and Jeff Monken. The field consists of twelve teams, including notable names such as Manny Diaz (Duke), Dave Doeren (NC State), P.J. Fleck (Minnesota), Brent Key (Georgia Tech), Dan Lanning (Oregon), Pat Narduzzi (Pitt), Mike Norvell (Florida State), Scott Satterfield (Cincinnati), Kirby Smart (Georgia), Dabo Swinney (Clemson) and Kyle Whittingham (Michigan). Several legendary former coaches will also participate.
Beamer will partner with Houston Nutt, and any winnings from their performance will go to the Beamer Family Foundation, supporting children’s educational and medical needs in Richland County and across South Carolina.
The Southern Company Peach Bowl Challenge has raised $3.5 million for 78 charities since its inception in 2007, with total contributions reaching $10 million according to organizers. Over its history, sixty-one head coaches have participated. Gary Stokan, CEO and President of Peach Bowl Inc., said: “We’ve now raised $10 million in charitable funds from this event and look forward to adding to that total thanks to this year’s impressive field of coaches. This annual tradition has grown to become the premier collegiate coach golf event and we’re thankful so many of college football’s biggest names have participated over the years in order to give back to various causes that have personal meaning to them.”
Mike Norvell and Urban Meyer are aiming for their third consecutive win after victories in both 2024 and 2025 tournaments.
