Seven members of the South Carolina swimming and diving team were named to the 2026 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Teams by the College Sports Communicators, according to an April 7 announcement.
The recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both in athletic competition and academics. The College Sports Communicators Academic All-America program honors women’s swimming and diving athletes across four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. To qualify for the all-district team, athletes must be at least sophomores academically and athletically, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and meet specific competitive requirements such as participating in five competitions or achieving top finishes at conference or national meets.
Four women—Amy Riordan, Emma Reiser, Jordan Agliano, and Sophie Verzyl—and three men—Pierre Largeron, Harvey Freeman, and Gage Hulbert—earned this year’s distinction. Riordan qualified for her third NCAA Championships this season with notable performances including two school records at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships. Reiser made her first NCAA appearance in two freestyle events after personal bests at SECs. Agliano competed in butterfly events at nationals with strong finishes throughout the season.
Verzyl achieved a milestone by winning her first national title in the 3-meter dive at the NCAA Championships—the first such title in program history—and was named a finalist for the Honda Sport Award for Swimming and Diving. She also swept springboard events at SECs while setting new records during her senior season.
On the men’s side, Largeron qualified for his first NCAA championships with top-15 SEC finishes; Freeman earned multiple top-five placements during conference play; Hulbert contributed with solid performances including two wins during his campaign.
The awards reflect continued academic commitment among Gamecock swimmers and divers as they balance rigorous coursework with athletic achievement.
