U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) met with members of the South Carolina National Guard in Washington, D.C., to express his appreciation for their service and discuss their current mission in the nation’s capital. The meeting follows President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C., with the stated aim of restoring safety and security.
“President Trump made the right decision in deploying the National Guard to restore order and safeguard our nation’s capital,” said Senator Scott. “The men and women of the National Guard represent the principles that keep our country strong, and I am grateful for their commitment to public safety and the security of vulnerable citizens.”
The deployment comes amid ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address security concerns in Washington, D.C.
