U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) issued a statement on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, which caused significant damage across South Carolina. The hurricane affected areas from Aiken County to the Upstate, resulting in loss of life and widespread disruption.
“It’s been one year since Hurricane Helene devastated communities across South Carolina, from Aiken County to the Upstate. We remember the families who lost loved ones, the first responders who risked everything to save others, and the neighbors who stepped up when it mattered most.
“As we honor the lives lost and the resilience of South Carolinians who continue to rebuild their lives, I remain committed to securing the resources our communities need not just to recover, but to rebuild even stronger than before.”
Senator Scott noted that storms are strengthening off the South Carolina coastline as a possible federal government shutdown approaches on October 1, 2025. He reassured residents that his office will stay available for assistance and encouraged preparation for potential weather emergencies.
