The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is inviting public input on a proposed amendment to the 2024-2033 Statewide Improvement Program. This amendment seeks to incorporate the 2025-2026 Pavement Improvement Program. The period for public comment is open from May 28, 2025, until June 18, 2025.

According to SCDOT, the projects included in this program have been selected based on “objective and quantifiable factors” as required by Act 114 of 2007. These projects are located on major roads, farm-to-market secondary roads, and neighborhood streets. They align with the Ten-Year Plan and support performance targets set in the Transportation Asset Management Plan. The distribution of paving funds will be county-specific to ensure equitable allocation across all counties in South Carolina.

The upcoming pavement improvement initiative plans to add an additional 732 miles of paving projects. These will join the previously approved 7,700 miles advanced since Act 40 of 2017 was implemented. All projects will be part of the “New Gas Tax Trust Fund” transparency and accountability reports.

Public comments can be submitted until June 18, 2025. Feedback should be directed to Ginny Jones, Public Involvement Director at SCDOT’s Public Engagement Office. Comments can also be submitted online or via email at SCDOTpubliccomment@scdot.org.
