About the exhibition:

The South Carolina Watermedia Society is one of South Carolina’s oldest and largest art organizations, and the only statewide visual arts organization in South Carolina. Each year, the Society invites artists from South Carolina and around the country working in watermedia (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and other water-based paint) to submit work to a juried exhibition. This year the Society is celebrating its 45th National Exhibition Anniversary. On this landmark year, the South Carolina State Museum is proud to host this exhibition.

The State Museum has had a relationship with the SC Watermedia Society for many years, including as part of its Traveling Exhibition Program. This program creates traveling exhibitions for other institutions and includes an annually changing exhibition of select pieces from the previous year’s SC Watermedia Society juried exhibition. Guy Lipscomb, Jr., who was one of the first commissioners of the State Museum, was also one of the founding members of the Society.

This exhibition and reception were made possible with support from the Lipscomb Family Foundation.

Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required.
