A woman has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses related to the theft and damage of vehicles at a used car lot, according to an April 6 statement from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office.

The case is significant as it highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address property crimes in the community. The incident also involved minors, raising additional concerns about youth involvement in criminal activity.

Da’Niyah Shanesse Fulks, 20, faces three counts of grand larceny, two counts of breaking into motor vehicles, one count each of malicious injury to real property and criminal conspiracy, as well as four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. “We received a report about a suspicious vehicle near a dealership and body shop in the 2500 block of South Lake Drive early Thursday morning,” Sheriff Jay Koon said. “When a deputy got there, he noticed a car with significant front end damage.” Koon said that during his investigation at the scene, the deputy connected the damaged vehicle back to the dealership and found four other cars showing signs that someone had tried to steal them.

Koon said that while deputies were still investigating at the dealership, they stopped another car reported stolen from the same location. “Fulks was in that car, along with four minors,” Koon said. She was arrested during this traffic stop and is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center. The minors were taken into custody and transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
