LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center and the Lexington County Chronicle will co-host a school board candidate forum on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 5:45 p.m., at the North Lake Community Learning Center, located at 702 N. Lake Dr., Lexington, SC.

“The purpose of this forum is to educate voters, Chamber members, and interested community leaders about each candidate’s platform and their priorities,” said Angelle LaBorde, Chamber President & CEO. Candidates will participate in a timed question-and-answer session and will also be given the opportunity to provide a closing statement.

Eleven candidates are seeking to win one of three open seats on the Lexington District One Board of Trustees. The candidates include Harriet Coker, Richard Gehling, Aaron Granade, Dana Homesley, Katie McCown, Andrea Nazarenko, Nicholas Pizzuti, Mary Price, Chris Rice, Rhys Sage and Beth Shealy.  Voters can find information about the candidates on the district’s website (lexington1.net).

In addition to the Chronicle and the Chamber, organizations like the Lexington Woman’s Club and Rotary Club of Lexington are promoting the forum to their members.

“Our school system is vital to our community. I hope the voters will take the time to learn more about each candidate and vote on election day, Tues., Nov. 8,” said LaBorde.

The forum is free and open to the public. Advance pre-registration is appreciated by visiting lexingtonsc.org/events.
