State Rep. Jay Kilmartin, a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, shared a series of posts on his Twitter account in mid-April 2026 that comment on state politics and government operations.
On April 15, 2026, Kilmartin wrote: “I have to admit, this cracks me up. One of our members ‘went on conservative radio’ and some people posted on Twitter. Literally, they froze in their boots when they thought the public would be watching them. Thank you grass roots! Being feared politically has power.”
The following day, April 16, he criticized legislative priorities by quoting Republican leadership and juxtaposing it with an appeal for support: “House Republican Leadership: ‘We don’t have time to suspend the gas tax.’ Same people: ‘Please support us in honoring Kamala Harris.’ SMH. As a politician, I Scratch My Head so much I’m surprised I have ANY hair!”
Later that same day, Kilmartin referenced concerns about the organizational structure at the Department of Transportation (DOT), echoing another representative’s remarks: “Rep Frank is right. This spaghetti like org chart (that makes my eyes hurt) is why we have a lack of accountability at DOT.”
Kilmartin’s comments come as South Carolina lawmakers continue to debate issues such as fuel taxes and government transparency within state agencies.
