Redshirt senior All-American Frankie Harris led South Carolina with a tie for third place at the Ford Collegiate, according to an April 14 announcement. The event marked the team’s regular season finale and took place at The Ford Field & River Club in Richmond Hill, Georgia.
Harris recorded a career-low score of 199 (11 under par) over three rounds, including an opening round of 63 that matched the program’s record low for an 18-hole score. His final round featured a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th hole. Harris finished tied for third in a field of 72 players and had a team-high total of 16 birdies. He also shared first place in par-4 scoring average for the week.
The Gamecocks finished tenth out of twelve teams with a total score of even-par (840) after posting their best round on the final day, highlighted by under-par performances from Harris, freshman Talan Harrison, and junior Brock Blais. Marek Fleming also stood out by tying for second in par-3 scoring average among all competitors.
Texas secured the team title by eleven shots over Auburn. Jackson Koivun from Auburn won his tenth career individual title after defeating Texas’ Christiaan Maas in a playoff.
South Carolina will begin postseason play next week at the Southeastern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course. This will be the twenty-fifth year that Sea Island hosts this championship.
