Four members of the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s golf team were selected on April 29 to compete as individuals in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship. Junior Vairana Heck, junior Maylis Lamoure, sophomore Eila Galitsky, and freshman Molly McLean received at-large bids to participate in the NCAA Regionals from May 11 to 13.

The four athletes are all ranked within the top-170 of the latest Clippd Player Rankings. Heck (No. 38) and McLean (No. 147) will play at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional hosted by Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida. Galitsky (No. 40) and Lamoure (No. 161) will compete at the NCAA Louisville Regional held at University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.

According to the announcement, six individuals and thirty teams from each of the six regional sites will advance to the next stage, with only one individual from a non-advancing team moving forward to the NCAA Championship scheduled for May 22–27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

The Gamecocks were not chosen as a team for an at-large bid due to their overall win-loss record falling below .500 after conference championships—a requirement under rules implemented two years ago for postseason selection eligibility. The team ended its season with a record of 55-58-3 against what was described as one of college golf’s toughest schedules.

This marks a break in South Carolina’s streak of twenty-six consecutive appearances as a team in NCAA Regionals since 1999 but sets an unprecedented milestone: it is reportedly “the first time in NCAA Regional history a program has had four individuals selected to compete in the postseason at the NCAA Division I level.” Previous records include Furman with three players chosen in 2021 and San Diego State with three selections in 2013.

Further details about this year’s full field can be found on official championship resources.
