Fairfield County announced on Mar. 23 that it is seeking volunteers to help celebrate the county’s 250th year of American liberty with a historical reenactment event scheduled for April 25-26, 2026. The two-day event will take place on the green at Mt. Zion, located at 250 N. Walnut St., Winnsboro.
The celebration will feature historical reenactors who will depict life during the years from 1776 to 1781. Organizers said several hundred British soldiers camped at this site for three months during the winter of 1780-81 under the command of British Lord General Cornwallis.
A volunteer recruitment and training session is planned for March 30 at 10 a.m. at Midlands Technical College Fairfield Campus, Room 126, located at 1674 U.S. Highway 321 Business in Winnsboro.
Community members interested in participating or learning more about volunteering are encouraged to attend this session or contact the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce by phone at (803)Â 635-4242 or email lauren@chamberfc.com.
The upcoming event aims to engage local residents in commemorating an important milestone in Fairfield Countyâs history through educational activities and community involvement.
